WINSHAM Primary School was delighted when it received a cheque for £350 to help with school funds.
The money was given to the school by Winsham’s Somerset County Council representative, Linda Vijeh, as part of her health and well-being fund.
Headteacher Sarah Stringer said: “We decided to use the money to improve local community links between different age groups in addition to getting everyone exercising more.
“We wanted our pupils to be enthused by dance and movement and to enjoy the process through workshops that culminated in a performance attended by the whole village, some of whom also took part in the production. Our PFA also helped out by providing refreshments.
“We are really pleased that by using the money, as well as additional funds that we raised ourselves, that we were able to hire renowned dance teacher Carla Steenkamp Sheills to lead the project with help from dance pupils at Richard Huish College.”
