SOMERSET's young Gordon Ramsey wannabes gathered for a Compassionate Cook competition at Frogmary green farm.

Children, from West Chinnock, Martock, Preston, South Petherton, Ash and Kingsbury Episcopi primary schools, met at the Cook It! School to prepare for the national RSPCA Assured Junior Compassionate Cook video competition.

The day was held to allow children to hone their cooking and video skills to help them compete for one of the competition's top prizes - a Hamleys hamper worth £300 and a range of cookware for their school.

Claire Bragg, owner of the Cook It! School says: "We know already that there are lots of children in Somerset who are keen cooks, so we hope that during this special event we can help them develop their skills – in cooking and videoing and editing – so they have the best chance of winning."

The children watched a cookery demonstration from Henny Crosland and pick up hints and tips on how to video their recipe from award winning London video production company, Spectrecom.

The cookery session then ended with a quick tour of the farm including a chance to see the RSPCA Assured chicken houses.

Two sessions were held on the day, from 10am to 12am and from 2pm to 4pm.
