CARNIVAL week in South Petherton is well and truly underway in readiness for the annual parade which is being held this Saturday evening.

The week of events began last weekend with a Carnival Race Night at the Brewers Arms in South Petherton.

On Sunday there was a Family Fun Day at the Recreation Ground in Lightgate Lane which was blessed with fantastic weather.

There was free Bouncy Fun stuff for children to enjoy, thanks to sponsorship from Andrew Winter Butchers, as well plenty of other stalls, games and refreshments, plus to get up close with some feathered friends courtesy of Owl Obsessions.

Also on Sunday there was a Carnival Quiz at the Brewers Arms, while the funfair comes to South Petherton and will be open on the Recreation Ground from this evening (Wednesday, September 9, 2015).

There will be Carnival Bingo at the South Petherton Sports and Social Club on Thursday (September 10) from 8pm, while there will also be a Grand Prize Draw that night at the Brewers Arms.

A Carnival Children’s Party will be held at the South Petherton Youth Club on Friday (September 11) from 5pm.

And then it is the big Carnival Day itself on Saturday (September 12) starting with a Mile of Coins in St James Street, South Petherton, from 9am.

A Photography Exhibition with the South Petherton Photograpic Society will be held at the Blake Hall in South Petherton from 10am.

The Blackdown Hills Steel Band – sponsored by Frogmary Farm Cooker School – will be performing in the centre of South Petherton at 6.45pm ahead of the Carnival.

The Carnival procession will start from the Recreation Ground at 7.30pm and proceed around the village before returning to the Rec.
