A MOTHER whose daughter died after suffering from a brain aneurism has had support from businesses near and far to raise awareness of her charity.

Sophy Layzell set up the Jemima Layzell Trust earlier this year in memory of her daughter, to help support the rehabilitation of brain-injured children, to educate people about brain aneurisms and encourage more young people to sign up to be organ donors.

Sophy launched the “Wear a Flower Campaign” last month enlisting the help of hairdressers and other local businesses to spread the word about her campaign.

Jemima, a talented student from Horton, was just 13 when she died.

Sophy wants all hairdressers in the area to display information about their trust and show their support by encouraging their customers to wear a flower once they have had their hair done.

Already, several businesses have shown their support including the Horton Post Office and Celia’s Salon in Chard.

Even Martin Clunes and Celia Guppy showed their support at Buckham Fair.

Lush in Taunton has also organised an evening at Taunton School on November 28 from 6.30-9.30pm.

All are welcome and entry costs 50p.

There will be bath bomb making, plus LinC Cakes, Elite Candles, Cutie Crafts Jewellery, Glass by Harleyjay and live music from Stevie Brown.

There will also be lots of Lush gifts and goodies.

Tickets are available at Lush.

Kate’s County Kitchen has also organised cooking demonstrations and ‘secret suppers’ once a month for 12 guests.

Each event aims to raise £120 for the trust to provide match funding for therapy sessions at BIBIC.
