GEMINI Carnival Club have pulled out of this Saturday’s Carnival at Wellington – the opening parade on the 2010 South Somerset circuit.
The award-winning Ilminster club has taken the difficult decision to withdraw from Saturday’s opener because it is not ready to take to the road.
Club chairman Gary Bealey said: “We are very disappointed not to be taking part in Wellington, but we felt we just wouldn’t be doing ourselves any justice.
“We just aren’t ready.”
But Gary added: “We are going to working flat out on the float over the weekend so that we will be ready for Ilminster Carnival on October 2.
“I can’t take anything away from the club members because they’ve worked really hard, but time has been against us.
“We don’t like to miss out on any Carnival, but we felt it would not be in the best interests of the club if we did take part at Wellington on Saturday.
“But we will be ready there or thereabouts for Ilminster.”
