RISING folk outfit Mawkin:Causley are performing at the David Hall, South Petherton, tonight.
The band formed 18 months ago as the result of a collaboration between Essex instrumentalists Mawkin and BBC Radio 2 Horizon nominee Jim Causley.
Their much-hyped union lead to a Best Group nod at this year’s BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, prior to the release of their debut album, The Awkward Recruit, in April.
The five-piece have a string of festival and concert appearances under their belt, with Devon singer Jim joining fellow folk stars Waterson:Carthy on tour for three consecutive years.
Their music draws inspiration from a wide range of sources and features a heady mix of rich vocals, melodeons, electric bass and acoustic guitar.
Mawkin:Causley will be on stage from 8pm and tickets cost £14 on 01460-240340.
