AN EVENING of sleet and snow is in store for Somerset.

After a day of wet weather and winds, some parts of the countyu will be experiencing some short snow falls.

Taunton is set for some sleet around 7pm, while further south near Chard the sleet and snow is set to start around 7pm and last until midnight.

In their south west summary, Met Office said: "A colder day than of late, with frequent blustery showers throughout the day and gusty winds, particularly near the coast.

"The showers could be heavy and wintry at times, particularly over higher ground, with thunder and hail also a risk."

The maximum temperature is set to reach around 9C, before fallign to a minimum of 0C overnight.

Tomorrow's forecast said: "Staying unsettled, with showers possible throughout the day, perhaps merging into longer spells of rain. Slightly milder than today, but very windy at times, particularly near the coast."

The temperature is set to peak at around 10C.
