We've all made the odd phone call we regret, but the people who made these bizarre calls to Somerset County Council are probably feeling more than a little bit embarrassed right now.

The Local Government Association (LGA) has revealed some of the strange but funny questions received by customer service hubs across the UK, including Somerset.

One person, clearly in a cooking crisis, phoned Somerset County Council and asked what size tin is required for the Mary Berry strawberry tart featured on the BBC’s Great British Bake Off?

And in true West Country style, someone actually called the council and enquired as to what are the rules and regulations for hosting a mouse race?

Someone who perhaps should have paid more attention in geography at school gave Somerset County Council a ring and asked how high is Mount Kilimanjaro?

Yes, that's not a joke.

Ever made a daft phone call to a Somerset authority?

We'd love to hear about it.
