A Somerset charity that runs horse related activities for people with disabilities has been given a boost thanks to a supporter's sponsored silence.

The Conquest Centre for Disabled Riders have benefitted from the support of Santander’s matched giving scheme and will receive a donation of £1,000 to allow them to continue to offer the "very best service possible" to the 180 clients they work with each week.

The money was raised by Dawn Stephenson, sales promotions executive at Newsquest SW, by completing a 12 hour sponsored silence for the charity in March.

Kevin Smith from Santander said:“What an amazingly quiet and successful day it was. Really proud to be able to support such a worthwhile local charity.”

Teresa Wort, from the Conquest Centre for Disabled Riders said: “We are delighted to receive this donation on from Dawn and Santander.

"The support of local people and business allows us at Conquest to continue to provide the vital service we do for our clients and their families. As a local charity Conquest is always very grateful for the support we receive and every penny counts. This money will go towards ensuring we are able to provide the support our families need.”
