Officers are investigating a theft of a dozen high-spec bikes from a cycling competitors’ camp at Great Wood, near Bridgwater, at the weekend.

Most had been handmade or modified for racing,, and only one of them valued at less than £3,000 the total value of the bikes is estimated to be over £60,000.

The victims were teams taking part in a competition nearby; the bikes had been chained to vehicles whilst the owners slept on Saturday night, May 9.

The bikes involved are: Whyte G150 Works (four) similar to that pictured, however, those stolen have been made for team members so have some modifications. All valued at about £4,000 Lapierre Spicy 527 (black and red) valued £3,100 Scott Genius LT710 Carbon (with yellow Mavic wheels) valued at £4,200 MDE Carve 7 (four) and may be distinctive in that the chain is a prototype which is smaller than normal. Four of these have been stolen, in medium and extra-large sizes, and are valued at about £5,000.
