A MIDDLE-aged woman has died after apparently taking a "white substance" at a music event at Minehead's Butlins holiday camp, according to the BBC.

The 47-year-old became "seriously ill" near the resort on Friday, and collapsed outside Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton, say police.

Detectives believe she fell ill after taking the unidentified substance and died yesterday morning (Sunday, May 10).

A Police spokesman said: "We can confirm that a 47-year-old woman died in hospital after it is believed she took a substance whilst at an event in Butlins, Minehead."

The woman was not staying at Butlins, a company spokesman said.

She was seen on CCTV entering the resort in a group of about 20 people at about 11pm on Friday and did not appear unwell when she left at 3.45am the following day.

Police have not arrested anyone but say their investigations are ongoing.
