SOLICITORS across Somerset are supporting Make a Will Week run by St Margaret’s Somerset Hospice from September 15-24, with 18 firms waiving will-writing fees in return for a donation to the charity.

Richard Flack, from Pardoes, Taunton, said: “By making a will you can be sure that those you want to benefit will do so – there are so many misunderstandings and complications about who gets what when someone dies without having made a will.

“And making a will during Will Week means that an excellent charity will benefit.”

Sharon Collier, a partner at Porter Dodson, Taunton, said: “We have been supporting St Margaret’s in a variety of guises over the years and see Will Week as an opportunity for both our existing clients and new clients to make a difference to the hospice through donations at the time of writing the will and bequests.”

The suggested donation to St Margaret’s is £100 for a single will, £150 for a pair of mirror wills and £50 for a codicil to update an existing will – compared to the standard charges of £195, £295 and £150.

A similar initiative last year raised a total of £23,000 for St Margaret’s.
