Hand-rolled tobacco can cause blindness, tumours and dementia, survey says
9:00am Thursday 15th August 2013 in Somerset
SMOKERS are being warned hand-rolled tobacco can cause blindness, tumours and dementia and is as dangerous to health as manufactured cigarettes.
A Smokefree South West survey showed 53% of the region's smokers use roll-ups.
Cllr Christine Lawrence, chairman of Somerset County Council's health and wellbeing board, said: “It's as dangerous and deadly as any other form of tobacco - it exposes smokers to over 4,000 chemicals as well as serious, life-threatening diseases associated with smoking.”
