THE Environment Agency has postponed two meetings to discuss flooding on the Somerset Levels this week ... because of flooding fears.
The meetings, which were due to be held on Wednesday and Thursday (January 30/31) to discuss Curry Moor and North Moor, will now be staged at a later date.
A spokesman said: "The severe weather warnings for the next few days mean that Environment Agency staff will not be available to attend an update meeting on the Curry Moor and North Moor on Wednesday and the Curry Moor surgery earmarked for Thursday at the Willow Wetlands Centre."
Chris Smith, from the Agency, said: “It is extremely unfortunate that we have had to postpone the two meetings this week, and we would like to apologise to those residents who were planning to come along.
"The current weather conditions and forecast mean that we are unable to stage these events. An alternative date for the two meeting will be arranged as soon as possible."
