SERVICES are being held across Somerset to mark Remembrance Sunday.

In Taunton, a civic service will take place at St Mary Magdalene Church at 9.30am.

Afterwards, Taunton Deane Mayor and Mayoress Cllr Terry and Mrs Ann Hall and their party will take the salute on the steps of the Old Municipal Buildings, in Corporation Street, at 10.30am.

A Service of Remembrance will be held in Vivary Park at 11am.

As November 11 falls on a Sunday this year, a separate two-minute silence will not be staged in the town centre.

In Wellington, a service of remembrance and wreath laying takes place in Wellington Park at 3.15pm.

In Bridgwater, a service will take place at the Cenotaph in King Square at 10.50am, with a two-minute silence at 11am.

At 11.10am a parade will leave King Square and march to St Mary's Church where a Remembrance Day service will take place.

At 12.15pm a march past from the church will be held.

In Minehead, a silence will be held at the Alcome Memorial at 11am and a service will be held at the Methodist Church, in The Avenue, at 3pm.

There will be a parade from The Royal British Legion Club, in Bancks Street from 2.30pm.

Similar parades are taking place in towns and cities across the county, including Chard, Ilminster, Burnham, Highbridge, Wiveliscombe and West Huntspill.

Firefighters from Somerset will lead a memorial service at the Armistice Day parades in Ypres, Belgium.

I don't think it really matters, remembering our fallen troops and supporting our serving troops is all the matter
