ILMINSTER’S great annual fireworks display was an explosive success with more than 1,500 people in attendance.
The event was held at Britten’s Field and featured a Guy competition, which was won by the Ilminster Ladies’ football team, a bonfire and a fireworks display.
Paul Webber, one of the event organisers, said: “We had more people than previous years, in excess of 1,500, and the display was amazing.
“We would like to thank the Shrubbery Hotel and Mark Tobin, without him and his team it would not be possible.”
Prior to the event, organisers Paul Webber and Darren Paull and the sport club directors announced money raised from collection will be donated to the victim of the Chard Carnival accident.
Mr Webber added: “We have raised just under £300 for the lady injured at the carnival.
“We would like to thank all volunteers, especially Andrew Lawson, the Lions Club and Ilminster Majorettes for a stunning display. Also, we would like to thank Clinton Bonner for supplying sausages for the BBQ.”
