A MAN in his 30s has been rescued by colleagues and fire fighters after he became trapped in machinery at a factory in Ilminster.

Two fire engines and paramedics were called to the Daido Industrial Bearings factory in Winterhay Lane shortly at around 4pm this afternoon (September 20) after reports of a man becoming trapped in the machinery.

On arrival, the fire crews confirmed that a man's fingers had become trapped in a conveyer used a grinder to assist factory workers in freeing the man.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said that the casualty was left in the care of paramedics who had been called to the scene.

A spokesman for South Western Ambulance Service confirmed that they were called to the scene in Winterhay lane, Ilminster, shortly after 4pm.

A double-crewed ambulance, an incident commander and an air ambulance were all sent to the scene.

The man was rushed to Bristol Hospital for further treatment of his injuries.
