A HORTON woman has been rushed to hospital after a car careered through a pub garden fence while she was on the other side.

Police, ambulances and fire service were called to the crash shortly after 2pm yesterday (June 1) following reports of an incident on Hanning Road, Horton.

A police spokesman said a car went through a garden fence and a woman, who was in the garden at the time, was injured and has been taken to Musgrove Park Hospital for treatment.

A spokesman for South Western Ambulance Service said they were called shortly after 2pm to reports of a crash.

They attended with two rapid response vehicles and one ambulance.

One female, who was reporting back pain, was taken to Musgrove Park hospital for treatment.

A spokesman for Devon and Somerset Fire service said: "A call was received reporting that a car had crashed into the garden of a public house on Hanning Road, Horton, and that a person was physically trapped under the vehicle.

"Three fire appliances from Ilminster, Chard and Taunton were mobilised along with a supervisory officer.

"On arrival crews found a car had collided with a fence at the premises, trapping a person against the fence.

"The driver of the vehicle was uninjured but another person was treated for a suspected arm injury. She was left in the care of ambulance service personnel.

"Fire crews made the area safe, isolating the gas and electricity and moving the fence to a safe place."
