FIRE crews rushed to a farm near Ilminster this afternoon to rescue a cow from a slurry pit.
One fire engine from Ilminster and a special recue team from Bridgwater was called to a property in Water Street, Seavington St Mary at around 3.25pm today (April 12).
On arrival, crews confirmed a cow had gone into a slurry pit, measuring approximately three meteres by two metres.
First, the crews attached a cattle halter to help maintain the cows airway and to keep it calm.
Crews then used strops and a telehandler to lift the cow from the slurry pit with the aid of the farmer.
Duty of care of the animal was left with the owner.
