MORE than 60 colourful and creative Christmas trees have gone up on display in Ilminster for the town's annual festival.

The Christmas tree festival is held for five days every year and sees a number of festive arrangements from the town's groups and families go on display the Minster church to raise money for worthy causes.

The rev Nigel Done said: "Audrey Beasley who was 90 this year opened the Christmas tree festival.

"We had representatives from Greenfylde, Swanmead, Neroche and Sunny Ile pre-school as well as the mayor, myself and the Christmas tree organiser Elizabeth Ferris at the opening at 11am on Monday.

"The church looks fantastic."

The Minster is also currently hosting an exhibition from Amanda Kahn Davies about homeless and refugees, featuring images and items from the Calais camp.

There is also a life-sized nativity on display mirroring a refugee couple.
