AN ADVENTUROUS cat is feline fine after being reunited with its family after it travelled more than 50 miles since it went missing 12 months ago.

Ryley was found in Ilminster recently and handed to Minster Vets, who scanned him to see if he was microchipped.

The vets discovered that Ryley had gone missing in September 2015 from his home in Paignton, and after being handed in to the vets, he was soon reunited with his owner, Sara Hookey.

She said: “I was absolutely shocked. My daughter was over the moon, literally. We have the sister as well and my daughter has the mother as well and to get Ryley back was amazing. I just said to my daughter, Tonilee, guess what, and she was just literally over the moon and said let’s get her now.”

The family have issued a special thank you to Minster Vets.

Jenna, from the Ilminster vets, said: “This story is another reminder as to why micro chipping is so important; as without a microchip, Riley would probably never have been traced. He was brought into Minster Vets, where he was scanned to check if he was micro chipped. Luckily for Ryley he was.

“The owners were contacted straight away, and reunited with Riley within a few hours. Ryley had travelled a grand distance of 56 miles from Paignton to Ilminster, and had been missing since September 2015.”
