AN ILMINSTER woman will be having her head shaved at the town’s Party in the Park in a bid to raise money for a charity that has helped her friend’s son.

Anji Dobbs will have a stall at the annual event with glitter tattoos and face painting, as well as having her head shaved.

The chop will be carried out by Rosie Hart, from Penhalagans of Ilminster, and all funds raised will be donated to Zellweger UK and the Epilepsy Society.

Mrs Dobbs said: “On August 28, I am shaving my hair for charity at party on the park.

“It will be plaited and shaved by the lovely Rosie from Penhalagans and will be donated to make a wig.

“The money raised will go to Zellweger UK and Epilepsy society.

“I have watched some amazing people have their heads shaved and it’s got me buzzing for mine.

“Thank you for your donations so far, they are much appreciated.

“Zellweger is a reasonably new charity and (Zellweger Spectrum Disorder is) a condition that I am only aware of due to my friend’s son having it so I would imagine many of you are also unaware too.

“Weʼre raising £500 to Donate equally to Zellweger Uk and Epilepsy Society.”

Zellweger Spectrum Disorder, otherwise known as GPD (Generalised Peroxisomal Disorder), is a very rare genetic condition belonging to a group of diseases called Peroxisomal Biogensis Disorder (PBD).

The charity offers support and advice to those who suffer from the disorder, and their families.

Most children don’t live into adulthood and deal with global developmental delays – deafness, blindness or multi-sensory loss – and a plethora of other health issues.
