ILMINSTER Fairtrade plan to install five new fairtrade signs in the town.
The group’s annual general meeting took place at the end of last month where the town’s official fairtrade certificate was also given to the new mayor of Ilminster, Cllr Val Keitch.
The meeting was also told that the Fairtrade Foundation, which issues towns with accreditation, said that the Ilminster’s ambitions and achievements were “impressive”.
Plans to install five fairtrade town signs on the entrance roads to the town were also unveiled, along with proposals to launch a ‘Fair Hair’ campaign with hairdressers across the town Ilminster.
Plans to refresh and reprint the Fairtrade leaflet and lead an ambitious expansion of the local Fairtrade movement to surrounding towns, villages and the district of South Somerset were also announced.
The next meeting of the management committee is set for due to be held on Thursday 16 June 16, at Ilminster Bowling and Tennis Club, from 7pm.
