NEARLY all of Swanmead’s pupils took to the recreation ground last week for the school’s annual house cross country.
The event, that was cancelled several times in the winter due to poor weather, was finally staged last Thursday.

The team competition saw Isle House take the top prize ahead of Minster and Herne houses.
Headteacher Mark Walker said: “I was as proud as ever to see all of our pupils take part in the annual house cross country competition.
“My thanks go to the many parents - more than I’ve ever seen on the Rec for this event - that came along to support and also to the Ilminster Lions for their assistance in marshalling our house cross country competition.”
In the individual awards, Molly Harris was the top year 5 girl, and with Max Jaffe as the first placed year 5 boy.
Lexi Vallelly and took top prize in the year 6 girls event, with Jamie Nagy came crowned first place in among the year 6.
Meanwhile, Charlotte Bristow and Oscar Knight took the main medals in the year 7 competitions, while Isobel Elks and Lewis Bolland did so took to the top prizes for year 8.
