A COMMITTED fundraiser has raised hundreds of pounds for a local branch of a national charity.
Cllr Linda Vijeh, district councillor for Neroche, held her bi-monthly quiz at Moose Hall in Taunton to raise some much-needed funds for the Samaritans.
Cllr Vijeh said: “I really enjoy putting together these quizzes. It is a great way for people to have a cheap night out. Where else can you get a sandwich supper for just £1 a head?
“We usually have around 12 teams competing and this month, together with the raffle, we raised £225. As well as our regular quizzers people are beginning to bring friends and family along as well, which is great.
“Our next quiz will be held on July 15, as at the moment I am busy working on the quiz for Ilminster’s Literary Festival, on June 8.”
Following the quiz, one of Linda’s fellow Samaritans, who chose to be anonymous, said: “I just want to thank you on behalf of my table at Friday’s Quiz. We all enjoy the quiz evenings as we always have such a laugh and a jolly time. We do appreciate the trouble you go to in order to present the questions.”
