FESTIVE fun and Christmas crafts took over Swanmead School on Wednesday as the pupils took part in a focus day.

Children took the day off from curriculum on Wednesday, December 17, to enjoy their last week before the holiday break.

A whole variety of activities were enjoyed, including Christmas decoration designing, cracker making, festive art fun, racquet sports and nail designing.

Head teacher Mark Walker said: “We do a couple of focus days each school year. They are always very popular with our pupils as it gives them a chance to mix with children from other year groups as well as enjoying a wide variety of different activities.”

Ann Kivet, the headteacher’s PA and school secretary, added: "It was absolutely brilliant.

"It is something that we do quite often."

Swanmead also held a focus day last Christmas, as well as two the year before - one at Christmas and one in the summer.

Whilst the workshops were occurring the school took the opportunity to rehearse for its annual Christmas Concert.

The event involving more than 100 pupils played to a packed hall on Thursday evening.
