ILMINSTER Memory Cafe celebrated their first anniversary with a special meeting last week.

The drop-in style meet is for people living with dementia and their carers.

Rebecca Beggs of the Ilminster Memory Cafe said: "On Wednesday, November 4, we had a wonderful morning celebrating our first anniversary.

"Ilminster Memory Café is a relaxed, drop in style café for anyone living with dementia and for those who care for them.

"Over the year we have steadily grown in numbers with some great relationships being made together with some nice events.

"One very special time was when we shared a lovely harvest lunch.

"May I say a huge thanks to our dedicated team of volunteers who give up their time and skills to make this service possible."

Ilminster Memory Cafe is a voluntary run service by St Mary's Church, who meet in the church rooms opposite.

Reverend Nigel Done said: "I am delighted that our church congregation is working with others offering this space for people experiencing dementia either themselves or with their loved one.

"It's a lovely supportive atmosphere and I hope anyone wondering about coming along will join in.

"Congratulations to everyone involved on the memory cafe's first birthday."
