A MAN who denied an allegation of criminal damage during an incident at Ilminster has had the case against him adjourned for a legal argument to take place.

Ashley Hodgson, 21, of Trevor Smith place, Taunton, appeared in the dock before Somerset magistrates at Yeovil.

He pleaded not guilty to a charge that, on March 21 at Ilminster, he damaged a kitchen door valued at £166.61 belonging to Sanctuary Housing.

Prosecutor Christine Hart said that the defendant did not dispute he caused the damage but said he had been offered a caution by the police on condition he paid the cost of the repairs to the door.

Defending solicitor Chris Ivory said his client had been offered the conditional caution but had not heard anything back from the police and had now been brought to court.

The matter was adjourned until January 7 for an abuse of process argument to take place and in the meantime Hodgson was given unconditional bail.
