ILMINSTER Carnival organisers have announced that around £3,100 was collected during the parade on Saturday (October 3, 2015) through the town.

Organisers have thanked everyone for all their donations and all those who went around with collecting tins, with the money being used to support the future of the event and other local groups.

The money will be used to support the future of Ilminster Carnival and other local groups.

The Carnival took place on a clear and dry evening with more than 50 exciting entries taking part.

Sadly, the Chard-based Eclipse Carnival Club suffered some technical issues with its spectacular entry Madagascar Europe’s Most Wanted near the start line of the procession and had to withdraw from the parade.

An Ilminster Carnival Committee spokesman said: “We would like to praise members of the public watching for their patience and co-operation during the evening while various situations were dealt with including the Carnival being temporarily stopped to allow for the safe removal of Eclipse’s float which then allowed Carnival to continue.”

The Eclipse situation was at the rear of the parade and it meant that spectators had to wait a little bit longer for the arrival of the amazing Fogg’s World Tour which was brought to life by Ilminster’s very own Harlequin CC.

Meanwhile, the Problems of parked vehicles which hindered last year’s Ilminster Carnivalevent were quickly avoided this timeyear when a couple of cars were moved ahead ofbefore the start of the procession.
