SIXTY golfers from across South Somerset took part in the Rotary Club of Ilminster’s annual Golf Tournament - kindly hosted by Steve Hill, the new owner of Cricket St Thomas Golf Club.
The tournament was played in mainly fine though cloudy conditions at the recently refurbished club near Chard where the course had generously been made available for the day.
Rotary organisers David Dick and Peter Smith said the event raised £1,400 which will now be donated to the Children’s Hospice South West.
The Men’s Cup was eventually won by Jason Contreras and the Ladies Cup by Barbara Wilton who is the current Ladies Captain at Cricket St Thomas.
Several local sponsors supported the event. These included a Broomhouse & Saul hospitality stop halfway around the course, beyond which several contestants are understood to have needed added focus and encouragement to continue!
