YEOVIL Town coach Darren Way was on hand to present certificates to members of Ilminster Youth Football Club at their annual presentation day.

Donyatt Bowling Club was the venue for the ceremony, always well-supported by the youngsters, their families and team sponsors and supporters.

Way congratulated everyone involved in the club and said that grassroots football was very important for the game.

Ilminster Youth club chairman Jamie Lee, in his programme notes, echoed the words of their special guest.

“I say a big thank you to everyone for their continued and much appreciated support for this wonderful club,” he said.

“Each and everyone of you play an important part to making this club what it is – whether you are a parent, grandparent or child, your support is truly amazing and helps all the managers and trainers feel it is worthwhile developing so much of their valuable time to allow so many children to enjoy this wonderful game.”

The chairman added: “We have been very lucky this year and had some new managers and trainers join us and I would like to say thank you to them for stepping up.”

Team sponsors were thanked for their vital financial support, while John Pallister was also thanked for his work in maintaining the pitches.

The annual Chairman’s Award was presented to Under- 16s team manager Pete Childs, while the Mark Faulkner Award was presented to Pete and his team.

The Mark Faulkner Award is presented in memory of a former Ilminster Youth manager who died of skin cancer in 2007 just 11 months after diagnosis.

The Under-16s won the Division Two Yeovil and District Knockout Cup back on April 26, 2015.
