YEAR 11 students at Holyrood Academy in Chard put on their finest and arrived for their final day in all forms of transport.

During the afternoon there was a ceremony where the head of year Pauline Lamond bid farewell to her students in a moving speech.

Then each tutor congratulated the students from their tutor group on their achievements at the academy and presented each one with an official record of achievement.

The Leavers’ Prom will take place at Haselbury Mill on Friday July 3, after which students will meet once again when they collect their results on August 20.

The weather was good for the annual day of excitement, which for many was tinged with emotion as they waved farewell to Holyrood. Others will return as sixth-formers in September.

Admittedly, some will be returning to Holyrood in September for Sixth Form studies, but others will heading to college or out to work.

Each year the students – and their parents – never cease to amaze with the various modes of transport such as HGVs, sports cars, stretched limousines, an American-style taxi and even a unicycle.
