Illminster WI members mark 100th anniversary of organisation with window display
THIS year is the 100th anniversary of the opening of the first Women’s Institute in Llanfair PG, on Anglesey, North Wales on September 16, 1915.
Today there are 19 in Somerset alone, and to celebrate, Ilminster WI members have put together displays of events and handiwork undertaken during its 57 years of activities.
These can be seen in various locations in Ilminster, the main one being in Dyer’s opposite the Minster church.
The group meets on the first Wednesday in the month at 7pm in the Minster rooms.
