Firefighters were called out just after 7am this morning to a report of a car that had left the road and landed in a field at Hurcott, Seavington St Mary.

A fire control spokesman said: "The caller was very vague on her location so fire control operators stayed on the phone while trying to ascertain the location.

"Fire appliances from Ilminster, Crewkerne, and the rescue tender from Yeovil were mobilised.

"Fire control operators continued to stay on the phone to the caller until appliances arrived to reassure her.

"Crews released the female who had minor injuries. Firefighters made the vehicle safe and left in the hands of the ambulance service."
