A FIRM near Ilminster more used to dealing with potatoes has helped dish out a couple of Apples to local children.

Spud supplier Branston received a call for help from St Mary's Pre-school in Barrington to help the development of the children's education in recognition of the digital era.

The firm stumped up a donation of £250 which will allow the pre-school to purchase one of their two desired iPads.

Last week, Branston general manager Ian Wait visited the pre-school to present them with the iPad the company helped fund.

Mr Wait said: “I'm thrilled to visit St Mary's to present them with Branston's donation and see for myself what fantastic pre-school this is.

“I have no doubt that the children will benefit a great deal from this investment and we're happy to have been able to help support our local community.”

The pre-school's aim is to allow children to access learning platforms online, communicating effectively with other care providers, and familiarise the children with the technology they will be using when they start school.

Lucy Phipps, supervisor at St Mary's added: “We're absolutely delighted to have received such a generous donation, which will make a real difference to us.

“We're only a small pre-school and are really grateful to Branston for its generosity.”
