BUDDING poets have less than a week to enter the South Petherton poetry competition.

This year’s competition has a water theme and all poems must have a title, not exceed 40 lines in length and must not have been published.

Entries can be handwritten, preferably on A4 paper but must not use both sides.

Judges ask entrants not to put their name at the top of poems so they can be examined anonymously.

Entry is £1 for each poem submitted, which should be included with the entry in a sealed envelope.

Prizes include £50 for first place, £25 for second and £10 for third.

The deadline for entries is 11pm on Tuesday, September 30, and to enter send forms to Petherton Poetry Please, David Hall, Roundwell Street, South Petherton TA13 5AA.
