AN ILMINSTER couple celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary this month.
Sean (also known as John) and Monica McDonald will reach the milestone on September 18, when they will celebrate with their two children, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
The couple met at a dance in Lincoln in 1950 and married in the city four years later. They moved to Somerset with their children, Julie and Colin, in 1972.
Sean worked for Hayman’s Bakery in Ilton until his retirement in 1992.
Monica worked as a typist at Horlicks in Ilminster and also was a playgroup leader in Ilton.
The couple volunteered with the community bus for a number of years before settling down in their retirement and enjoying their hobbies of walking and gardening.
