ACTION could soon be taken to improve the visibility of a crossing in Ilminster.
Concerns were raised over the zebra crossing, on Station Road, after a young boy was knocked off his bike.
PC Andy Stuart said he has investigated the crossing and admitted that visibility during the day could be a problem.
In a report to councillors at last week’s town council meeting, PC Stuart said: “I have sat back at the location and monitored its use, and I have not seen anything untoward happen.
“That said, I have to admit that in daylight hours the flashing beacons are very difficult to see, and to a motorist who isn’t familiar with the area, it could be easy to not see the crossing until it is too late.
“This is also true of the other crossings in Ilminster and other towns and I will take this up with the relevant authorities.”
