Brewers Arms are tasting success
1:00pm Wednesday 7th November 2012 in Ilminster
THE Brewers Arms in South Petherton is toasting success after serving up a winning formula in the Taste of the West 2012 Awards.
The pub is the only one in Somerset to be awarded a gold award for flavours.
Landlord Duncan Webb said: “This is abso-lutely brilliant news and I’m so pleased for all the staff who work really hard.
“To be the only pub in Somerset to have got a gold award for its food says a lot.
“The whole team here at the Brewers should be proud of winning this award. I know I am – it means a lot.”
The pub has won two awards in two weeks, also being named Pub of the Season for Autumn 2012 by the Somerset branch of the Campaign for Real Ale group (CAMRA).
“It’s great to receive this award and it helps to recognise the work we put in to make sure we have good beer here,” said Duncan.
The pub has become a key player in village life in South Petherton, and helps with events such as the annual carnival and Easter duck race, as well as holding beer and cider festivals, and charity events.
Duncan and his team are gearing up for Christmas and the pub will be holding its annual festive craft fair on Sunday, November 25, from 3pm to 6pm.
