A CREWKERNE woman accused of using threatening behaviour and shoplifting has elected to stand trial at Taunton Crown Court.

Jade Horridge, 29, of Langmead Place, appeared before Somerset Magistrates, sitting at Yeovil.

She pleaded not guilty to a charge that on July 31 at Crewkerne she used threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour likely to cause somebody harassment, alarm or distress.

She also denied a further offence of stealing groceries worth £34 belonging to Central Convenience Stores at Crewkerne on July 28.

Defending solicitor Sam Morton said the defendant would be putting forward a defence that she was suffering from mental health issues at the time.

The defendant elected to stand trial at the crown court and the magistrates adjourned the case until November 20 when she must appear before a pre trial hearing at Taunton.

Until her next court appearance Horridge was released on unconditional bail.
