AN INQUEST has been opened into the death of a Crewkerne teenager whose body was found in a field.
William James Brooks, 19, was confirmed dead by senior coroner, Tony Williams at an inquest today (July 28).
Mr Brooks was a pupil at Sexey's School in Bruton.
A spokesman for Taunton Coroner's Court said: "I can confirm that an inquest was opened today (July 28) into the death of William James Brooks.
"Mr Brooks was 19-years-old and his death was confirmed in a field, off Middle Street, Puriton.
"Initial post mortem reports show cause of death by hanging."
The coroner adjourned the inquest to allow statements and reports to be prepared.
