A WOMAN has been hospitalised after a crash near Crewkerne which saw her car flipped onto its side.

The crash was shortly before 11am today (March 3) near Turnpike Crossroads, School Hill, Misterton.

An ambulance service spokesman said they were called to the scene at 10.54am to reports of a crash.

There was one female casualty with minor cuts to her hands and leg.

Paramedics attended with one ambulance and the casualty has been taken to Yeovil District Hospital for treatment.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue were also called as the woman was initally trapped in the car.

A spokesman for the fire service said: "One fire appliance from Crewkerne and one from Beaminster were mobilised.

"On arrival, crews confirmed this to be a single vehicle incident with one elderly female still within the vehicle, but not physically trapped.

"Fire crews assisted paramedics with administering oxygen therapy.  The vehicle was also stabilised and made safe.

"Duty of care of the female casualty was left with paramedics."

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset police said: "We were called at 11.02am to a single vehicle collision.

"One person was involved. The ambulance were called. The car was on its side. The woman has minor injuries.

"We closed the road on the A356 side and recovery is being arranged.

"The road reopened at 12.15pm."
