CREWKERNE Pharmacy is urging members of the public to get their blood pressure tested.

The warning comes after research from Blood Pressure UK revealed that around five million people have undiagnosed high blood pressure.

Furthermore, an estimated 47,300 people living in South Somerset have hypertension (high blood pressure).

As part of the appeal, MP Marcus Fysh, the MP South Somerset, is going to have his blood pressure taken later this week.

Andy McKee, Pharmacy Manager at Crewkerne Pharmacy, says: “Blood pressure is one of the most preventable and treatable conditions but remains one of the leading causes of death.

"The message to local people is to take charge of their health and pop down and see us in the pharmacy during the week of September 12 and get their blood pressure checked free of charge.”

Crewkerne Pharmacy is offering free blood pressure checks at the pharmacy all week from until September 18, throughout their opening hours of 7am to 10.30pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 5pm on Sunday.
