Firefighters from Crewkerne were called out this morning to a fire in a home at Haselbury Plucknett.
The crews were sent to Yeovil Road just after 10am after a report of a fire involving a roof of a bungalow.
The crew confirmed that the roof was alight in the utility area of the bungalow and got to work stripping the tiles from the roof and using breathing apparatus with carbon dioxide extinguishers.
Western Power was called out so the power to the property could be isolated.
A fire and rescue service spokesman said: "The fire was successfully extinguished using the above equipment and the electricity was isolated by Western Power. The fire had originally been involving an electrical distribution board which had spread to the roof."
