A BRAND new rectory that will serve five parish churches around Crewkerne has been completed in the town.

The site in North Street was transformed after being perchased by the Diocese of Bath and Wells.

The five parish churches that will use the facility make up the Wulfric Benefice.

They are Church of the Good Shepherd in Hewish, St Leonard in Misterton, St Martin in North Perrott, St Michael and All Angels in Haselbury Plucknett, and St Michael and All Angels in Wayford.

The project overseen by Greenslade Taylor Hunt architect Nick Ratcliff RIBA was completed in less than nine months and within budget.

The land was bequeathed to the Crewkerne Parochial Church Council under the will of the previous owner.

The Diocese of Bath and Wells bought the site in order to build a new rectory.

Greenslade Taylor Hunt gained planning permission for the construction of the new rectory in September 2014, construction work commenced in March 2015.

The work was completed at the beginning of December and the recently consecrated Bishop of Taunton, Rt Rev Ruth Worsley, blessed the new rectory earlier this month.

The rectory will be home for the Reverend Stuart Huntley and his family.
