A TEENAGER from Crewkerne who allegedly hurled racist abuse at a pizza delivery driver when he turned up at an address in Yeovil with an order is to stand trial before Somerset Magistrates in the New Year.
Jamie Lee Gosney was said to have flung open the door and started shouting and swearing at him calling him a “f***ing Polish c***”.
The 19-year-old defendant, of East Street, Crewkerne, pleaded not guilty to using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour likely to cause someone harassment, alarm or distress on May27, and the offence was racially aggravated.
He also denied using threatening or abusive words or behaviour or disorderly behaviour likely to cause somebody harassment, alarm or distress n the same date when he appeared before District Judge David Taylor at Yeovil.
The court was told that Gosney claimed it was a case of mistaken identity and he had not been present during the incident.
A review was conducted and the case was adjourned until January 6 when the defendant must return to the court to stand trial.
In the meantime he was released on unconditional bail.
