The 12-acre Westlands Leisure Complex is set to become a "first-class venue" after South Somerset councillors approved a £1.8m loan.
The council is to take over the centre for 30-years after AgustaWestland announced its closure over increased running costs and a lack of profits.
The site is set to be taken over by the council next year after a £1.8m refurbishment loan was approved.
