MERRIOTT First School has been awarded £368,000 to build a new kitchen and provide hot meals for pupils.
The school will benefit from a pot of £175million the Government set aside to help schools build kitchens and facilities to deliver hot school meals to infants.
MP for Yeovil David Laws has welcomed the news. He said: “This investment is great news for all the pupils at Merriot School. The money will help serve hot meals to all infants, ensuring they receive a nutritious meal every single day they are at school.
“When we implemented the free school meals policy, we knew some schools would need help to build extra facilities, which is why we set aside £175million to do just that.”
