SCHOOLCHILDREN had fun building catapults at the Rotary Technology Tournament last Friday.
Teams of four were challenged to build Vertical Take-off and Landing launchers at Wadham Community School.
Students had to turn their designs into a mechanism, complete with a trigger and a parachute, in less than four hours.
Tom Fry, Hannah Forsey, Eddie Hooper and Lucy Elsdale from Maiden Beech School in Crewkerne won first prize in the basic category.
Nick Liggins, Katherine Locke, Lauren Winch and George Wickham from Holyrood Academy in Chard won the intermediate category.
And Brendon Hodder, Corey Sutherland, Sophie Baker and Hannah Miller, from Holyrood, won at advanced level.
