New buses for South Somerset

IMPROVEMENTS to bus service 81 from South Petherton to Yeovil via Montacute have been launched this week.

Somerset County Council, in partnership with South West Coaches, have invested in modern low floor buses on this route.

The improved service called the Green Line began yesterday (Tuesday, May 6) and will run from Monday to Saturday with a slightly revised timetable. Service 81, the Green Line, route runs from Yeovil to South Petherton via Norton Sub Hambdon, Stoke Sub Hamdon and Montacute.

The Green Line will be distinctive with its silver and grey livery and CCTV will be in operation on this service for additional safety and security of both passengers and staff.

Cllr Tony Shire, the county council's portfolio holder for highways, said: "This is a key route for residents in the local area and is ideal for visitors to Montacute House and Ham Hill.

"The improvements to this service demonstrate our commitment to improving the quality and accessibility of local bus services across the county."

Managing director of South West Coaches, Alan Graham, added: "We are continually looking to extend our support to local services and are delighted to be able to offer improvements to this route."

Timetable information is available from either South West Coaches Ltd on 01963 33124 or Somerset Direct on 0845 3459155.
